Could There Possibly Be MORE Mutants Cast For Next Summer’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse?!’

Next year’s  X-Men: Apocalypse  will feature a heavy dose of mutants.  That much is certain. However, what we don’t yet know is could there possibly be more mutants to add to this already stellar ensemble of actors?   As much as we’d like to forget Brett Ratner’s take on  X-Men: The Last Stand,  what made the movie somewhat entertaining was its wide diversity of mutants.  Yes, there were mutants who were portrayed poorly or cast (yes, I’m looking dead at you Cain Marko), but no one can deny that if you wanted to see mutants battle to the death, the final climax of the film was pretty entertaining.  There were plenty of mutants who were utilized in the film that either played a huge role or was simply a shout out from the comics.  Some of these include, Psylocke, Spike, Callisto, Multiple Man, and also Jubilee and Angel to an extent. Now even though  X-Men: The Last Stand  was a HUGE disappointment, at least Ratner didn’t have to give enough screen time to all of the unnecessary mutants like the nods I previously mentioned. However, what Bryan Singer must do to take this franchise much further is to make sure he is able to dedicate a decent amount of screen time for each of the major/minor characters for this upcoming film.  Obviously the cast he will most likely focus on more so than others would be the cast he’s been using for the previous two  X-Men  films including Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Charles Xavier), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), and Nicholas Hoult (Beast).  Singer will also be bringing back a character from  X-Men: First Class:  Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne). I’m very excited to see what plans they have for her.  Unfortunately she was not cast in the latest film, however I look forward to seeing how Singer will further develop her character.  I’d like to see the relationship between her and Charles Xavier as they hinted a lasting friendship by the very end of  X-Men: First Class.   It should not go unnoticed that this will perhaps be the toughest X-Men film Singer will have directed. Not only will there be such a large cast, but this film will likely become the foundation for future X-Men films.  20th Century Fox’s  first spin-off in the X-Men universe will be Channing Tatum’s  Gambit. I realize that  Deadpool  will be coming out a few months before  X-Men: Apocalypse,  but something tells me that it will not be a part of this this universe YET.  While  Deadpool  did get the official green light from  Fox,  they are being extremely discreet at the moment.    While most of us believe that  Deadpool  will be a box office hit (I certainly do), let’s not forget how close this film was from not getting made.  Yes, there have been a lot of talks that this film would EVENTUALLY be created, but if it wasn’t for that released footage we received last year, we may not be having this discussion right now.  If there’s one person who we have to mostly thank, it’s  Deadpool himself being played by Ryan Reynolds.  So could Deadpool eventually join the X-Men universe? Absolutely.  But will he make some kind of appearance in  X-Men: Apocalypse?  Possibly, but chances are no.  20th Century Fox  wants to be cautiously optimistic and HOPE  Deadpool  will be a hit as most expect it will be.  Fingers crossed. So now I’d like to mention the new cast that will joining this cinematic universe for potentially years to come.  Here is a list of the newer stars that will be playing younger versions of the characters we’ve already come to know and love:  Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Scott Summers), Ororo Munroe (Storm), Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler), and recently cast Lana Condor as Jubilee. While Singer would most likely focus on the characters he’s already used in previous films, this cast however could be the most crucial.  Since we are being introduced to a younger team of mutants, we must come to terms that this could possibly be the cast moving forward.  Jennifer Lawrence has just recently announced that this will most likely be her last time wearing the blue makeup as Mystique. Nicholas Hoult also made it fairly clear that he wants to continue with this franchise but he even stated things don’t look to be headed in the right direction for him.  After all, his contract will be up, and it remains to be seen if  Fox  plans on keeping Beast’s character. Fox  has released titles for some of their future X-Men films and spin-offs, but we don’t know what direction their exactly headed in.  This could also be Singer’s last X-Men film (let’s hope not!), but he may use this film as a stepping stone for another director to take over AFTER the events of  X-Men: Apocalypse.  Nothing has yet been confirmed at this point, but we can all speculate can’t we? And that’s not all folks!  While I have already mentioned the current cast of mutants along with Singer bringing in younger versions of the famous X-Men, more casting could be on the way.  Recent rumors have suggested that Channing Tatum’s Gambit could be in the run for a cameo appearance along with Halle Berry’s Storm and of course everyone’s favorite mutant with adamantium claws, Wolverine played by the marvelous Hugh Jackman. Could any of the recent mutant additions from last years  X-Men: Days of Future Past  make an appearance?  There are plenty of choices there such as Fan Bingbing (Blink), Booboo Stewart (Warpath), Adan Canto (Sunspot), and other mutants who have played in previous X-Men films: Shawn Ashmore (Iceman), Anna Paquin (Rogue), and Lucas Till (Havok). There are SO many choices to choose from.  Singer can only fit in so many characters without having the film become so convoluted.  It sure seems to be shaping up that way but if there’s one director we want to take on ANY X-Men film, it’s Bryan Singer. X-Men: Apocalypse  will be En Sabah Nur’in all the way into theaters on May 27, 2016. So what do YOU think of the casting so far?  Do you think Singer is including too many mutants for him to focus on or do you think he will find a way to balance everything out?  Please share your thoughts in the comment section below!
