Pokémon Go has been the talk of the town ever since the famous app debuted just a few weeks ago. We’ve heard plenty of stories surrounding this controversial app involving stampedes, criminals, and even a man’s house being turned into a gym.You may also read touching stories involving this app helping children in hospitals around the country. However, there are also unfortunate to hear stories that take advantage of the app in a profitable way.
How Much Did The Account Sell For?
There are quite a few Pokémon Go users who have decided that it’d be a good idea to sell the rights of their account to a stranger on eBay. Some users have in fact done just that ranging from a few hundred to a thousand dollars. If a new report is to be believed, a citizen of the United Kingdom sold his account on eBay for $1,500 and has apparently succeeded. His account stated that he had reached level 31 and has caught many extremely rare Pokémon. Unfortunately for him, his account has since been deleted.
His description for his account describes a little bit about himself and why he needs to sell his account:
“What you’re purchasing is my account, which I have put my time and effort into, which makes this a whole lot easier for you! … I’m just a broke college student in debt, and every penny helps.”
What Is The User Agreement?
Though this man has sold his account for an incredible amount of pounds, sadly for him he wasn’t playing by the rules. According to the agreement you make when you sign up to play the app, the agreement posted is as follows:
“By way of example, and not as a limitation, you agree that when using the Services and Content, you will not:
…use the Services or Content, or any portion thereof, for any commercial purpose or for the benefit of any third-party or in a manner not permitted by these Terms, including but not limited to (a) gathering in App items or resources for sale outside the App, (b) performing services in the App in exchange for payment outside the App, or (c ) sell, resell, rent, or lease the App or your Account…”
People clearly aren’t reading the fine print if they decided to sell their account for big bucks on the internet. Not only can this lead your account to become suspended, but it will also bring you into a lot of legal trouble. Though this man has dedicated a lot of time to playing this game, that should not compel anyone to believe it’s right to sell another company’s app for profit.
As a matter of fact, no one in the right mind should feel the need to purchase an account regardless. If you want to play Pokémon Go then by all means do so. Stop being lazy and wanting other people to do your work for you. The whole aspect of the game is to go outside, meet some new people, and overall have some fun. I have been playing this game for a while now and I have to say that it’s highly addicting. To be the very best, you have to do everything yourself. Now get out there and catch some rare Pokémon!
