Earth better be prepared as the aliens are making their grand return. The sequel to Roland Emmerich’s 1996 blockbuster hit Independence Day will hit theaters on June 24th. The film is set twenty years after the original film. The aliens are seeking their revenge on Earth for having blown up their mother ship along with most of their resources.
Well the aliens are back and in a BIG way (literally). We’ve seen from the previous trailer that some of these aliens are much larger in size. Unfortunately up until this point, we’ve only been able to get a glimpse of the aliens massive foot. However, the latest TV gives us a better view of the entire alien and it’s pretty much as you may have envisioned it to look. Take a look at the TV Spot for yourself down below:
What Takes Place In This TV Spot?
This alien is certainly not one you want to trifle with. While we only get a few quick seconds of the humongous creature, at least we now know what it looks like. It’s basically the aliens we’ve seen from the original film, only much larger in scale. It’s difficult to determine if there will be more than one of these creatures at this size. It could also be possible that this is the mother queen who is wreaking havoc all by herself. If that’s the case, then Earth is in serious trouble.
The quick scene also shows the monster knock down one of our very own aircraft right out of the sky. This scene could potentially be part of the climax in the movie. After Earth has destroyed the Mother Ship (again), the alien takes it upon itself to fight humans in “hand-to-hand” combat. One things for sure; this alien isn’t messing around and is willing to put up a fight. What will happen next isn’t certain, but it can’t be good for Earth.
As we inch closer and closer to the release date of Independence Day: Resurgence, I am reminded how much I thoroughly enjoyed the original film. To some, it’s just a guilty pleasure movie. For me, it’s much more than that. The action is spectacular along with the cast, including one of the greatest fictitious presidents ever put to film in President Whitmore (Bill Pullman). We even have other iconic characters from the original movie returning such as Jasmine Dubrow (Vivica A. Fox), Julius Levinson (Judd Hirsch) Dr. Brackish Okun (Brent Spiner), and of course everyone’s favorite character David Levinson played by the great Jeff Goldblum.
I don’t know about you but I am completely psyched for this movie. All of the trailers and TV Spots have won me over and I cannot wait to be sitting in that theater witnessing all the destruction these aliens are going to be causing on Earth once again. This has the makings of a good film with most of the original cast returning.
Independence Day: Resurgence will be out in theaters on June 24th.
