There’s not a day that goes by where Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot isn’t lambasted somewhere on the internet. This film has already been hated well before it has even been released in theaters. It has the reputation of being the worst rated movie trailer of all time. However, with all the negativity surrounding this film, I for one am still holding out hope that this film may be better than we expected.
Colombia Pictures has released a few brand new TV spots with one standing out among the rest. While the others have used plenty of recycled footage, this one in particular gives us a good look at a popular Ghostbuster villain. That’s right, you will witness the welcome return of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Click the video below and see for yourself:
Here’s My Take On It
Yes my friends, we will see Mr. Stay Puft once again on the big screen. Though we only see him for a mere few seconds, you automatically know who he is. However the context of the scene doesn’t give us much. It’s hard to predict how much of a role he will actually have in this film. We know he’s not the main villain in the movie. That goes to a character named Rowan who simply looks like the old Ghostbusters logo gone berserk.
While the film is also bringing back some of the old cast via cameo roles along with the popular ghost named Slimer, it’s nice to know that fan favorite villain Mr. Stay Puft is also getting a piece of the pie from Feig’s Ghosbusters reboot. Hopefully it’s more than just a cameo for the Marshmallow Man.
The New Logo?
The TV Spot also sheds light on the newer logo that their secretary named Kevin (Chris Hemsworth) has concocted for them. We’ve seen this particular clip in most of the marketing, but I still find it pretty hilarious every time I see it. Will the new team of female Ghostbusters go with this logo? I guess we’ll have to wait and find out…
The Main Villain Rowan
Talk about confusion. Why in the world would they decide to not only make the main villain a giant white monster when The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man also has similar features? To make matters even more confusing, we see Rowan begin to melt just the Marshmallow Man did in the original Ghostbusters. I don’t really know what Feig has planned, but I’m sure he has a surprise in store for audiences.
With the chemistry of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, we are in for some comedic entertainment. Director Paul Feig has proven he can pull off comedy well with his hit films like Bridesmaids, The Heat, and Spy. It’ll continue to be an uphill battle for this film until it at least reaches theaters. Then we will finally know if the wait was worth it.
