With Marvel’s release of their movie lineup, fans just cannot stop talking (like me) about the future of Marvel’s cinematic universe. Marvel has released their movie schedule leading all the way up till 2019. Films such as Doctor Strange, Thor Ragnarok, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Captain Marvel and of course Avenger’s Infinity War Part 1 and 2, are coming to theaters in the next six years. Fans are clamoring for these films and cannot wait till they all hit the big screen. However, one film in particular which fans appear to be looking towards the most besides Avenger’s Age of Ultron is Captain America: Civil War.
Captain America: Civil War will be a pivotal film that will put two of our most beloved superheroes against one another: Steve Rogers/Captain America and Tony Stark/Iron Man. Not to go into too much detail on the Civil War comic book background, but this will all begin to collapse on the Avengers in the upcoming film Avengers Age of Ultron. There have already been a few disagreements between the two in past films including Marvel’s The Avengers. However things will start to unravel more as our two heroes clash. A movie clip has been released from Age of Ultron that shows the two disagreeing on certain issues. You can view the clip here:
However, the most important point I want to make is not about Captain America or Iron Man, but rather the Black Panther and the role he will have in the Marvel cinematic universe. To briefly mention in the comics, Spider-Man became a central focus and role in Marvel’s Civil war. He was the one who fought on both sides of the superhero armies that became split over disagreements. He first sided more with Iron Man, but then eventually chose to fight with Captain America. Unfortunately SONY is the company who has the rights to this character. Disney/Marvel also does not own the rights to the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. Those rights belong to 20th Century Fox.
So the reason I am mentioning this, is that Disney/Marvel now has to find a character that can help calm the storm that is brewing between the two characters and that hero is none other than the Black Panther. Marvel has hinted at this at their previous convention when both Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans announced that they would both be starring in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.
Shortly after the announcement was made, Chadwick Boseman came out between the two to announce his solo Black Panther movie that will be released in 2017. He too confirmed that he would also star in Captain America: Civil War. So to me that says that he will be the one who is caught up in the middle of it all and has to somehow help establish a truce between Iron Man and Captain America.
But that’s what I believe after looking at all of the evidence. What do you guys think? Do you think Spider-Man will ever be introduced into the Avenger’s universe or do you think Black Panther will take on Spider-Man’s role that was established in the comics? Comment below and tell me what you think!
