‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer Review

By now I’m sure EVERYONE has seen the new Star Wars  trailer multiple times.  I hope you are excited just as much as I am for the upcoming movie!  George Lucas has passed the torch to director J.J. Abrams (Super 8,  Star Trek,  and  Star Trek Intro Darkness) for the next installment of the Star Wars  franchise.

This new Star Wars  film will take place thirty years after the events of Return of the Jedi.  I look forward to seeing what story George Lucas has up his sleeve this time around.  Now that we have had a brief preview of Star Wars The Force Awakens,  I would like to share with you my favorite moments from the trailer (if you haven’t seen it yet, you can view it right here).

Here we see a new kind of droid introduced to the Star Wars  universe.  This is perhaps another service droid built on Tatooine to fix many different kinds of space ships and/or ground vehicles.  We have seen many types of droids throughout the Star Wars  franchise so it should come as no surprise that new droids will appear in the upcoming film.  As long as this new droid doesn’t steal the show over C-3PO and R2D2, I’m ok with that!

This next shot depicts the new and improved stormtroopers!  Oh this shot just sends chills down my spine!  These storm troopers look very intimidating like the ones we saw in Lucas’s original Star Wars  trilogy.  I hope that Abrams will likewise do them justice.

Does this vehicle look familiar to you?  It should,  as this appears very similar to the speeder bikes we saw in the famous Endor chase scene in Return of the Jedi.  This prototype looks bigger with more armor than the original.  Perhaps this speeder is used more for cargo rather than scouting out enemies.

This scene is my favorite in the whole trailer.  I know most of you probably enjoyed the final scene, but I LOVE the X-Wing fighters!  They are my favorite spacecraft the Rebel Alliance created in the Star Wars universe.  It was also Luke’s primary starfighter throughout all three films including the famous Death Star Trench run in A New Hope.

Here,  we get our first glimpse at perhaps the antagonist in the film!  Not only does this villain look menacing with his dark cloak, but he has a freaking awesome looking red light-saber to go with it!  We don’t know much about this villain at all.  Stay tuned for the next trailer to possibly shed some light (or darkness) on this new villain!

And,  finally there’s nothing better than watching a VERY familiar space vessel that appeared in all three original Star Wars films;  THE MILLENNIUM FALCON!  Clearly without the help of Han Solo, the Empire would have won.  Luke would not have been able to fire his proton torpedoes inside the Death Star and the Rebel’s would have been defeated.  Han was the true hero in A New Hope.

I have to say that I was very impressed with the teaser trailer.  The special effects,  the sound,  the tone,  all gave me positive vibes throughout.  My favorite aspect of the whole trailer was seeing a lot of nods to the original trilogy.  From the X-Wings to the TIE Fighters, they all had the unique look and sound as they flew across the screen.  Even the Millennium Falcon looked amazing!

I really hope that J.J. Abrams takes really good care of our next installment of the Star Wars  franchise.  I have to admit when I initially heard the news that they were continuing on with Star Wars,  I was very upset.  Return of the Jedi  was a remarkable ending to the Star Wars trilogy.  It rapped things up beautifully and ended on a high note.  However,  once I heard that the original cast was committed to play their roles again,  I felt a sigh of relief.

The Star Wars  franchise would not be the same without Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamil), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), and everyone’s favorite smuggler Han Solo (Harrison Ford).  Having the original cast return brings much joy to my heart.  I have faith in Abrams and believe that he will do an extraordinary job.  I just hope that all of the disbelieving fans go from  “I have a bad feeling about this”  to  “I never doubted you for a second!  Wonderful!”

So what do you guys think?  Did you enjoy the first teaser for the new Star Wars film?  What was your favorite moment that stood out the most in the trailer?  Comment below and share your thoughts!  Star Wars The Force Awakens  hits theaters December 18, 2015.
